1 Large Elastic Hair Band (like Goody brand) |
Hook Size | H |

Notes |
Make a slip knot and then single crochet around hair band. HINT: crochet around the tail of your slip knot and the elastic hair band-so that you are tucking it in as you work around the band.
After going all the way around the band, join the two with a slip stitch (sl st) in the 1st single crochet (sc). *Chain (ch) 8, sc in the next hole, then ch 8, sc in the next hole. Repeat from the asterisk around band, join with a sl st, cut yarn and pull through to the back. Tie a knot and work the end into the design.
Variation: You can change the look of the scrunchie by chaining different counts. Example: chaining 6 instead of 8 or chaining 11 instead of 8.
Hint: if you use the same color of elastic hair band as the yarn, you can’t see the band through the yarn.
I don't have a picture of one right now, but here's the pattern for a double layered large scrunchie.
