Ch 4, sl st tog to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 (Count as beg dc) 2 dc in ring, ch 2.  *3dc in ring, ch 2.  Repeat from * 2 more times.  Sl st to beg ch 3. (4 groups of 3dc)

Round 2: Sl st over a st, ch 3 (you are at the middle dc from the previous round), 2dc.  *Do 3dc in the ch 2 sp. 3dc in the middle dc from the previous round.  Repeat from * around. Sl st tog. (8 groups of 3dc)

Round 3: Ch 1, hdc, dc, tr, dtr, tr, dc, hdc, sl st all in the next st. (petal) Sl st over 2 sts, Repeat petal.  You will have 7 petals total.  Sl st tog.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

Optional Center for flower: Ch 10, fasten off. times 2.  Take the 2 chains and sew them to the center of the flower and cross them.  Sew to the hat.
