I'm having a pattern tester test this pattern to double-check my writing.  If you find any errors, please contact me.

The neck length is really a personal preference thing.  I made my husband's (black) longer than the rest.  He is a big man, so you might have to adapt for smaller men.

Round 1: Chain 5, sl st tog to form a ring.

Round 2: Ch 3 (count as first dc now and throughout) and 13 dc in ring. Slip st tog.(14 dc)

Round 3: Ch 3. Dc in same stitch as ch 3, then 2 dc in each st around. Sl st tog.

Round 4: Ch 3, dc in the same stitch. *Dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around, slip st tog .

Round 5: Ch 3, dc in the same stitch. *Dc in next 2 stitches, then 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around, slip st tog.

Round 6: Ch 3. Do not dc in the same st as the ch 3 like the other rounds.  Dc in each stitch around, slip st tog.

This for the crown (top of hat) Round 7-do however many rounds for the size you are making: Repeat Round 6. For Men: only 15 rounds. For Women: only 13 rounds. For pre-teens/teens: only 12 rounds. For children: only 12 rounds.

For here on the rounds count will be different.  Follow the notes listed on each round.

Next Round: Men Rnd 16 Women Rnd 14 Teens Rnd 13:  Ch 3, dc in the next 17 sts. Sl st in the next 20 sts and then dc in the next 17 sts. Sl st tog and fasten off.  Weave in end.

Children's Rnd 13 is a little different: Ch 3, dc in the next 17 sts. Sl st in the next 15 sts and then dc in the next 17 sts. Sl st tog and fasten off.  Weave in end.

Next Round: Men Rnd 17 Women Rnd 15 Teens and Children's Rnd 14 : Attach with a sl st to side dc after the sl sts from the previous round. If you look at the hat, the sl sts from previous round should be on your right and the dc's on your left.  You will be working around the hat to your left. Ch 3, dc in each st around to the other side where the other sl st from the previous round starts. At that last dc before the sl st, ch 20. Sl st to the other side's dc.  You have just made the eye part of the mask.

Next Round: Men Rnd 18 Women Rnd 16 Teens and Children's Rnd 15 : Ch 3, dec dc, dc around to the back seam is from the crown and dec dc there.  Dc around to other side and dec dc.  (You will decrease 3 sts in this round) Sl st tog.

Next Round: Men Rnd 19 Women Rnd 17 Teens and Children's Rnd 16 : Ch 3, dec dc, dc around to the back seam is from the crown and dec dc there.  Dc around to other side and dec dc.  (You will decrease 3 sts in this round) Sl st tog.

Next Round: Men Rnd 20 Women Rnd 18 Teens and Children's Rnd 17 : Ch 3, dec dc, dc around to the back seam is from the crown and dec dc there.  Dc around to other side and dec dc.  (You will decrease 3 sts in this round) Sl st tog.

Mouth hole is Next Round: Men Rnd 21 Women Rnd 19 Teens and Children's Rnd 18 : Ch 3, dc around until you get to the front. Sorry, this is hard to explain. Center your mouth opening to your eye opening. Skip 5 sts, ch 5 and sl st to the dc.  Finish dc around. Sl st tog.

Next Round: Men Rnd 22 Women Rnd 20 Teens and Children's Rnd 19 : Ch 3, dc in each st around. Sl st tog.

Repeat the previous round 6 times or however many times you want.

I made the pink women's, the 2 pre-teen's and the child's all the same.  They have 7 round of dc after the mouth hole round.  My husband's (black) has 11 rounds of dc after the mouth hole round.  Whatever you are comfortable with...try it on to see.
